Dear All
Two days later and we have seen a wonder of the world. Angkor Wat we saw yesterday amongst other temples but it was the most splendid, and today we have seen lots more. We are extremely hot and have been just dropped off near the hotel. I have collected a white shirt from the laundry lady which got left out of yesterday's collection parcel, and then came here to the internet cafe over the road to do this, while Peter has gone back to get in the shower first; and the heavens have just opened! It is scarily heavy rain. It is so loud on the roofand looks like I will be wading the few 100 yards to the hotel. Lucky i have my boots on.
Its just eased off again - just 10 mins or so! Wow!
We climbed our mountain after all this holiday. It was called Mount Meru and it is the mythical mountain in the middle of each of these temples surrounded by the moat which represents the oceans. We climbed Angkot Wat yesterday. It was rather hairy. Luckily there was a handrail to help us get down. I will have to show the pictures to those who can stand it! There are so many I wanted to take that I have had to burn cds to free up my memory cards again. We have just climbed the last one we were taken to for the highewst point view for miles around.
They are going to treat us to dinner at 6.30pm with Cambodian dancing, so we are being very well looked after. Tomorrow we drive back into thailand. Our gude here has been amazingly communicative in telling us all sorts about life in this country now as well as the sights. we had a coconut today and we also tasted sugar palm sugar after watching the evaporation process. Saw lots of welephants today too but not had a ride.
Its still pouring but not so intensely but I guess I will run back. Im soaked through with sweat anyway!
We gather it is also very hot over there so you know the feeling. This is 90% humidity too though.
Next one from Thailand and the sea!
Hope Andy Murray continues to do well.
Lots of love
Ruth
